 Explain what happens at a marae

When you go to a marae you either go there because you might be going for a talk, tangi or funeral. These are important things to do when you’re at a marae. Sometimes there could be things to do like cleaning up after a funeral or tangi. I have been to a tangi and funerals. The saddest time is when my papa Hangiroa passed away when I first saw my papa in his coffin I cried out all of my tears. I didn’t want to let him go from my life.

Talking at marae is talking about what you might plan for - where the body is going or what you might be doing for the plan of where people might be sleeping. Staying at a marae and sorting out the bed situation is easy you just got to pick where you are going to be sleeping. Maybe when you go to a marae and talk they might just be talking about what they are going to be doing on a birthday for someone that passed away to celebrate.

A tangi is when you are being called in by the kaikaranga. When you enter in by the marae you will walk up the center the marae and take off your shoes before entering the building and put them by the side so no one steps on them or trip over them while you’re lifting the body and walking. When your inside you take the body up to the front of the marae there will be pictures up in front of people that passed away and that are people that had their tangi there.
When you go to the marae you have a funeral, a funeral is when somebody passes away you stay at the marae for a little while and after a few days you have a funeral you take the body to their grave for where they get buried. When you go to a funeral it’s really sad to go to a family or friend’s funeral, some people wear black clothes for a funeral because it is a sign of respect for the deceased. When I went to a funeral it is really sad because if it’s your family or a really good friend this will mean that it is really sad, you will most definitely cry.

When somebody passes away you usually have a kai. Everyone loves to have a kai. Before you have it you obviously have to do the tables. When I was at my papa's tangi we had a kai after he got put down in the marae.  We usually have lunch there for the people that stay there and family that are coming from overseas. When I was at my papa Hangarau ́s tangi I helped put out the forks, spoons, knives and the cups for the drinks I also put out the butter, pepper, salt, and bread It was so much fun because I got to set out it with a tray that you can move around with. When I finished I told everyone to come and have a kai they were so hungry.

There you have it five reasons as to why you should read this in case you do not know what these reasons are when you go to a tangi or funeral. These will help you to be confident and not scared to go and for you to meet new family and friends.

Explanation Writing #3

So for the past few weeks, we have been doing Explanation Writing for a week we had to finnish it by the end of the week her is my last and final Explanation Writing.

 What happens at cross country

What happens at the cross country?

When we want to go to the cross country the teacher hands out cross country notices to the people that want to go through to cross country. The teacher gives them out and we put them in our bag to take to our parents, then we get our parents to sign the cross country notice so when you parent signs bring it back to your teacher so they know that you’re going so they can put you on the cross country list, so they could expect you to go.

What we take to cross country:

When we go to cross country we take our bags, inside our bags we take our lunch and our drink bottles also the teachers bring a tarpaulin in case the grass is wet. Some fruit for the kids that want some of the kids that didn't bring their lunch.  Also the teachers bring a list so they know that everyone is there and that they’re safe because if they’re not? OPSIE!!! I wonder what's going to happen the teachers are going to have to go look for them?. 

What we do - well we wait:   

First, we put the tarpaulin down then we put our bags on it so when the grass is wet we don't have to carry our bags all around, well we wait so we could have our turn to do our run. When we wait some people go and eat their lunch before they do their run, or they just go and buy them something to eat. Well, some people are running the others cheer them on because they want to, some people are just sitting down and being nervous or just relaxing before and after their own races.

What happens during the bus trip:

When we're all on the bus the bus is usually loud sometimes somebody sings our kapa haka song on the bus it is really fun but sometimes it can be too loud, some people are just sitting down and being quiet and the rest of the people are being loud. I'm quite sure the teachers get sick of all the loud noise on the bus.  Some people are sneaking food or fizzy drinks on the bus - NAUGHTY? Kids, when we are on the bus most of the kids want to sit at the back because they think they are cool but they're not well (maybe kind off).

What year goes first when we are in cross country:

When were at the cross country we always start with the juniors then we go to the seniors. It goes year 5 boys then year 5 girls, then we go year 6 boys then year 6 girls, then we go year 7 boys then year 7 girls last but not least we have year 8 boys then year 8 girls here is all of the youngest to oldest cross country order.

Conclusion:

So there you have it five reasons as to what happens at cross country these reasons will help you know what happens at cross country. And for you to go and have a go.

Explanation Writing #2

So for the past few weeks, we have been working on Explanation Writing for the past week I have completed nearly three but here is number #2 Explanation Writing.

 Explain how you create a collage using mixed media

There are lots of things that you need to know about college. Including using the right textured paper, what colors you can use, what glue helps it stick properly and to make sure you're happy with the finished product.

Firstly when we make a college we have to make sure you use the right paper because if you use a weak piece of paper the glue could go through you would be in big big trouble. If you use strong paper the glue would not go through which is a good thing. I think that using a strong piece of paper is better because it makes that glue stay in place and it will not rip the paper. To use and if you use weak paper then you will make the glue go through the paper and you do not want that to happen so that is why I prefer to use stronger paper.

Secondly, sometimes our teacher lets us use whatever colors we want or whatever amount the teacher tells us to use. Usually, people use about three to five colors of paper, we often use magazines. With all of the colors that are on it, we want to and only if we want lots of words on your college. We also could use nice and colorful colors if you want to.

Thirdly either use sticky icky glue and a normal glue stick for our college. When we use glue we only stick it either on our paper or magazine color that we will be using. I rather use sticky icky glue

because it is easier to use on a college and it helps it stick to the paper easier and it works well. 

Lastly, We could also choose whatever thing we want to do on it, like this year we did animals because it's getting judged on Agricultural day we drew pets officially because it is a pets day but some people call it Ag day. Also, you could do other collage like a valentine's college and many more. Maybe you could do just colors.

There you have it five reasons as to why you can enjoy creating a collage of your favorite thing to create and it will help you be creative in class with your peers. Also, I think that you will show off with the most creative skills you’ve got.

Explanation Writing

So for the past few weeks, we had to do at least 3 Explanation Writings before the week.

What happens on a school camp

There are lots of things you need to know about camp. These are making sure you return your forms on time, there is also making sure you pack the right gear, that you’re in the right place at the right time, and how we get there. If you are not able to do these things you won’t get to go camping.

Firstly when we go camping we get given a gear list to tell us what to take. We have to take blankets, baking, a pillow, showering stuff, and towels if you going onto a water camp, or a sleeping bag and much more. Also if you get car sick or bus sick you might need to take a lemon to smell or some mints, it might help you get through all the sickness you might be getting. 

Secondly before and after we go camping we always have to do the roll so we know that everyone is there so we don't ́ miss anybody out if you lose anyone we will get in big trouble. “OH NO!” The teacher has to know where you are because if she does not know where you are your parents are going to be made, it is your responsibility to keep clear what you do. If my parents found out I was missing OH! Boy, she is going to get all angry don't want to see what happened.

Thirdly usually when we go camping we go on a bus. When we got onto the bus it gets really loud when I say loud it is loud because everyone is just

so excited for them but still, maybe they just want to talk but in a loud voice. But before you go onto the bus you have to put your stuff into a luggage thing were you put all of your stuff in there, but you have your bags with you for your snacks or your activities things to do when you are bored. Also, you could bring your pillow on the bus for when you are tired and you don't like sleeping without your pillow or maybe it might just be uncomfortable.

Lastly, If you’re not going to camp then you stay back at school and your work you either go to a different class or you go to the principal's office. If you stay back at school and do your work which would be very DUMB!!! I would not like to stay back at school I prefer to stay at home which I would if I did not want to go. Also, you might get so much homework your going to faint I would be so terrified GOSH!!! I would hate that.

There you have it five reasons as to what happens at camp these will encourage your parents to let you go camping hopefully, and to have fun with your friends. I think if you are ever going to go on a camp make sure that you bring the form in QUICK!!!

Our homework poster.

Today we were working on our homework because some of us did not do it at home, like me. We had to use Facts,the habitat,diet and population I done it and my animal is a dolphin. I drew it with a pencil and went over it with black felt. On the background I just used a light blue and a dark blue and drew bubble because it is a water theme. I got the information off sgoggle and some of it by myself I got the idea of it by myself it was pretty hard to draw it I keeped on rubbing it out and re-drawing it and after rubbing it out I finally got it in the next 15 minutes. I decided to do a dolphin because I found it eraser to do it and it was a little bit easy to do the dolphin. My favourite thing about it is the dolphin because I did try my hardest. The reason why I did this is because it is meant to be used for Ag day judging my hole class did one to.

My Speech

 Why NZ is the best country in the world

1. I think that NZ is the best country in the world because it is a safe place to live it has lots of really good places to go. Also, New Zealand has again topped the telegraph travel awards as the best place to visit where you could hike up interesting hills and mountains or stay at a nice cabin. You also could take  amazing walks with your family which you could also have a nice day out spending time together from the outdoors.

 2. The reason why I love NZ is I feel safe here and my family lives here, I really enjoy people here they are nice and caring they help people when they are needed to be helped with anything. NZ is the most caring country in the world that’s what I think. NZ is a really supportive place when families need help with food, they are supported by putting you in a house, the government also help with money when you need it for your kids and there is also help for you and your family at home to buy new clothes.

3. The NZ rugby team name is called the New Zealand All Blacks, they are the most supported people in NZ, The New Zealand All Blacks have won 2 Rugby World Cups in 2011 to 2015 and also the inaugural tournament in 1987, and are the only international men's side with a winning record against every opponent, since their international debut in 1903, they also help sponsor food for the poor people out there living in a poor site.

4. NZ kakapo is a special bird known in New Zealand known as the largest and longest living parrot in the world it is very rare as well as the, kiwi the kiwi bird has been here over 50 million years which is really rare, NZ is very supportive of  nature, the vet helps animals and birds when they need help when they are in danger, some need help with their skin, teeth, food when there hungry also there are much more to be talking about.

5. In support of this these are the reasons why I think that New Zealand is the best country in the world, so I hope you enjoyed me reading this speech to you.

This is the piece of writing i´v been working on.

                                                                             Atlantis

Once upon a time there was a city named Atlantis. There was a mum named Sabra, dad named Paul, son named Jackie, a daughter named Maria and they had a dog named Luff Cuff. One day they went out for a walk up a hill, they were looking at the beautiful view of Atlantis. They started walking down the hill and saw turtles swimming around, dolphins jumping up rebounding off the water, fish swimming so fast. But then Luff Cuff started to bark loudly, he had never done that before. Maria walked over to -Luff Cuff to see what he was barking at, Maria noticed that it was just another dog that lived next door. Maria went over and patted him and said “hi there Sam what are you doing over here you are a bit far from home we'll take you back with us when we go home’. Maria started walking back to go and drop Sam off but on the way back to Sam’s house Maria saw the house crumbling down and saw the people all ‘’SCREAMING HELP US, HELP US PLEASE’’ Maria did not know what to do so she ran off looking for help!!! But she didn't end up finding help so she ran as fast as she could to see her mum and dad to tell them the news. They didn't know what to do but just stood there crying and screaming. They had to move somewhere safer to live rather than Atlantis but they could not find any flights that would be flying anywhere because of what happened. There was a big enormous storm that happened  so the flight people said that there won't be any flights until tomorrow.  Then there mum told them a story about what happened in the past when she was little.


When I was a little girl I lived in Ahipara, it was a beautiful place. I lived with my mum named Susan and my dad named Kyle, they were the best parents in the world my mum would cook a very delicious dinner, lunch and desert. My dad would make the most tastiest BBQ ever, the sausages were perfectly cooked the patties were so joyful and salty, the salads that my dad made was so healthy I could eat them all day. One day Ahipara celebrated this most wonderful festival ever, we got to eat candy floss, lollies, fizzy’s and many more we got to do rock climbing and jump on bouncy castles. That was a bit of my story


The next morning mum, dad and 2 kids woke up to see if the flights were open. Before that they had breakfast, they had nurture grain with milk. Then they went to the airport to ask the manager if the flights are open yet. The manager said yes so the mum and dad applied for a flight for all of them. They flew to Hawaii were they enjoyed the nice warm swims, they loved it so much they lived happily ever after.

My favourite TV show

My favourite TV show is Home and Away-

So Yesterday we had to pick something to write about it was a Book, TV show and a toy I chose a TV show here is my favourite part.

My favourite TV show is Home and Away because it is very interesting to watch because   it has a lot of drama. My favourite part was when Ziggy and Dean hugged. When they were doing a car drip Dean accidentally leaned into Ziggy to give her a kiss and also when Dean keeped on sneaking into Ziggy bedroom.

This is what we have been doing about a fair test for the past 2 weeks  about what are fair test is it was a pretty hard thing to do but I got through it when I finished we had to do a page about a catapult and how it works it´s right over here there is a sentence and how they are made and used for and also what you need to make them with. We also had to write about gliders it was so much fun it only took 2 minutes to do it was so cool we done lots of practice to make it fly.

A story about being stranded onto another place.

                         Stranded

Stranded onto a beautiful island is very cool but living on a stranded island would be very scary and being hungry without food but coconuts,fish and banana. The trees that stretched like big enormous long arms which stretched past the shoreline as far as it could go which practically covered the hole island only a little bit of the island was to be seen as it started raining as a big wide rainbow it was so colourful my eyes popped!!!



As we stayed on the island for two months just eating coconuts,fish and banana we were very hungry for chocolate cake we couldn't go back because of the tide which was very bad we had to wait in tall the tide went out so we could go back home. We waited and waited install we get to leave.,.



10 hours later….  The tide finally went out and we all went back home to eat some yummy!!!! chocolate cake with a nice hot chocolate it was so yum when we finished we had a movie it was could Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone it took about 2-3 hours to finish, I thought it was so cool I really enjoyed it after that we had lunch it was a ham sandwich and a raro drink yummy!!!

   The Damselflies

Once upon a time there was a damselfly that was flying his name was Jeff he had a friend with him flying around his friends name is  Ronald McDonald. They were like best friend forever they always wanted to go on a an adventure together they could not afford the gas to travel. So all they had to do was sing in front of the whole entire fly world so they could afford they money to travel. They were so shy that they were going to  POOP!!! POOP!!! there pants but there was this girl damselfly that was encouraging them to sing in front of the whole entire fly world. They said yes we will do it so they did they sang in front of the whole fly world they were so impressed that they have lots of money to travel around the whole fly world. They took there friend shannel that encouraged them they had the most funniest day ever they all were like friends that sticked together forever they shared each other's things.

  Smoking cigarettes

Since smoking can be an extremely harmful process, to adults smoking harms your body in many ways like causing cancer, lung infections, affects healthiness in you such as your teeth falling out,  damage to your brain, yellow teeth and loss of smell and taste.

Smoking can cause you to get lung cancer by damaging the cells that line the lungs when you inhale cigarettes.  Cigarettes are full of cancer causing substances.  They cause changes in the tissue to begin almost immediately. At first your body may be able to repair the damage in you but over time the damage could be serious.

Smoking increases your risk by 50% of having  brain damage and death. Smoking will  double your risk of dying from a stroke, one way that smoking can increase your risk of a stroke is by increasing your chances of developing a brain aneurysm.
Smoking can make your teeth fall out by the bone and tissue that hold your teeth in place breaking down and your teeth may loosen and might need to be pulled out.

So these are a few reasons why you should not smoke when you are older and now it is a bad habit for you to smoke because you could get all sorts of things like cancer,lung infections, effects healthiness in you,falling teeth, damage to  brain, yellow teeth and loss of smell and taste. So don't smoke it is really bad for your family and you.
